13-year-old Fran joined Lionel’s Legacy in January 2021, from Orange County Animal Shelter. There is sadly a shortage of fosters that are willing to take big dogs, and even fewer that are willing to take a senior with special needs, So we were over the moon when foster mum stepped and said, I will take her!
But what makes Fran special besides her adorable face and goofy attitude? You see, she has difficulty standing due to her spondylosis and arthritis. She has recently developed kidney disease and had a second dental due to severe oral infection. This means things like using the restroom and even eating can be difficult, but Fran’s foster family is dedicated to loving and caring for her.
“Fran got to go on a little weekend road trip to Prescott, AZ in February and loved soaking in the sun and playing in the forest! We also got her a wagon so she can come with me on longer walks! She may be old, but she loves her walks and loves meeting new people along the way. She also loves playing tug-of-war and just hanging in the hammock and snuggling. And since she has no teeth, her tongue hangs out, which we all think is the cutest thing ever. Fran doesn’t let anything stop her from being happy, fun, and very, very cute!”
